Over 50 Years of innovation
BIB design is primarily the work of Stephen Green who has over 30 years experience designing, illustrating and animating 3D products.
It was originally established in 1967 by Nick Butler and Peter Isherwood, joined by Stephen Bartlett they had a small office in Maiden Lane, Covent Garden. Early success came with the combined visual and engineering knowledge with designs for Decca, BOC and signage for the then new city of Milton Keynes amongst a growing range of clients.
Expansion through the 70's and 80's saw the team grow, a move to Bond Steet then Holland Park and a rise in the number of international clients with more consumer orientated goods for Apple, Minolta, Dunhill, Duracell, Citizen, JCB, Black & Decker, BT, Thompson, and Corning. Isherwood and Bartlett moved on to pursue individual careers leaving Nick Butler to guide the company with new directors.
In 1981 Nick was awarded the distinction of a Royal Designer for Industry and presented with an OBE in 1988. He was a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art and assessor, advisor, judge, chairman and executive board member for numerous educational, government and industry panels.
In the 1990's Nick moved BIB design out of London to a converted watermill at Whitchurch on Thames. A new team evolved and the work became more UK based counting BAA, BT, Cannon, Creda, GPT, Quantel, W.L.Gore, Thorn and Tunstall amongst the client list.
A desire to work more closely with smaller, innovation driven businesses at the end of the 90's resulted in another restructuring of the company.
A move back to a London studio where Stephen Green took the lead design role whilst Nick concentrated on his wider advisory and educational commitments.
In 2003 Nick transferred the business to Stephen who was keen to explore more sustainable design solutions and develop a hands on multidisciplinary approach, BIB design evolved once again.
A concentration on building relationships with smaller clients with a cost effective comprehensive service covering design, illustration and animation, whilst liaising with prototyping and manufacturing services has been at the core of the new business since 1998.
